First ever recordings by the Young brothers of AC/DC fame

Introducing the first ever recordings by Angus and Malcolm Young of AC/DC fame!

The legendary album by the Marcus Hook Roll Band Tales Of Old Grand-Daddy is being re-issued with 2 previously unreleased tracks and 3 rarities.

The album is tough, perfectly structured and intelligent. A very convincing political and social sentiment runs through many of the songs, as does a strong soul/funk influence. And featuring the first recordings of Angus and Malcolm Young it’s a real must for AC/DC fans.
"Tales of old grand-daddy" will be out on June 2nd.

Shortcuts : DarkHorse , Eugene Ripper , Homebound

DarkHorse - Let it ride (2014)
DarkHorse is a new country rock band from Nashville, featuring Paul Laine - Lead Vocals/Guitar. Their debut album "Let it ride" has a completely different sound compared to Laine´s previous bands Danger Danger and Shugaazer. The music on this 10 track album goes in the same vein as Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley and Bon Jovi´s "Lost highway" album.
Fans of Paul Laine´s melodic rock oriented solo albums might be disappointed to hear "Let it ride" but fans of contemporary country rock will be pleased to hear songs like the first single "In the country", the beautiful ballad "Strong" and the title track "Let it ride".
I think it´s a solid album and it would be nice to see DarkHorse perform at the Country Music Awards sometime near in the future.

Eugene Ripper - Fast folk underground III (2013)
Toronto based artist Eugene Ripper released his 5th album "Fast folk underground III" last year, this Canadian guy likes to blend slow folk rock with melancholic pop and my thoughts go directly to an old Johnny Cash but without the country style.
Eugene Ripper is a storyteller where his songs takes a while to get into, but this 8 track album truly grows for each time I hear it.
There´s almost a Pink Floyd-ish mood in some of these songs that I really dig, there are especially two tracks that grabbed my attention, the upbeat "Hammer down" and the spiritual "Living in the movies".
For fans of Chris Isaak, Lou Reed, Crash Test Dummies.

Homebound - Coming of age (2014)
"Coming of age" is the debut EP from U.K based pop punk quintet Homebound, they deliver 6 short tracks with a retro feel not that far from bands like Ace Troubleshooter, NOFX and MxPx.
The sound can be described as a mix between skatepunk and pop punk, the songs are well performed and I appreciate the positive vibes I get from the music.
But it´s a shame that I can´t pick out a favorite track because none of the songs gets stuck in the head, they tend to soundalike and it´s not a good thing.
Anyhow, a decent EP that will work if you´re a real pop punk nerd.

Anthony J. Resta is dreaming in subtitles

The MuseBox today announced the release of “Best Days of Our Lives,” the newest single from Ajax Ray O’Vaque, the alter ego ofAnthony J. Resta. Resta is considered one of the most prolific American producers of the past two decades, having worked with industry giants such as Elton John, Duran Duran, and Collective Soul. Known for his use of vintage gear and 'soundscaping' recording techniques, Resta has woven together pieces of obscure samples from vinyl with twisted analog synth sounds, melding them seamlessly into his artist’s performance. Resta’s musical prowess has earned him twelve RIAA certified gold and platinum awards. “Best Days of Our Lives” is the first release from "Dreaming in Subtitles" the record slated for a July 1st launch.

Know your killer with Killset

KillSET - A new project rising from the soiled ashes of other musical endeavors. KillSET was formed by taking an experienced, professional, well-oiled, digital grunge nu metal machine and adding the missing ingredient, an explosive, highly ignited, charismatic front man. Now being undeniably accomplished in all facets of music ranging from creativity to musicianship to originality, KillSET is poised to erupt & transform the music scene into a chaotic aftermath.
The band was created when former ARCM members, James "Jas" Dillon (Drums), Mark Baker (Bass), and Dave Comer (Guitars), combined forces with new singer Luca (Choleric). Instantly, there was an addictive atmosphere in the writing process that was undeniable. With an anything goes attitude, the contributions and writing styles of each member seemed to perfectly complement one another's individual uniqueness, to create a sound that beautifully kills. KillSET then joined forces with renowned producer, Eddie Wohl (Fuel, Smile Empty Soul, Anthrax, Ill Nino) and completed their debut E.P. which is set to make the masses recognize the combined ferocity and simple beauty that is KillSET!

The debut "Know your killer" EP was released on May 14th, listen to the new tracks "Lay me down" and "My whole life" at:

Beartooth release new song Relapsing from debut album

Beartooth shares equal inspiration with brutal metalcore as with old-school punk like The Ramones and the bombastic theatricality of Queen. The end result is a back-to-basics hardcore stomp that would get the crowd moving at a Hatebreed or Terror show, interspersed with a steadfast determination to give equal importance to anthemic choruses.

“I made the whole thing by myself,” Caleb Shomo (ex.Attack! Attack!) says of Beartooth’s debut album, Disgusting. “The entire record, front to back, is literally a reflection of my thoughts and my mental well-being at the time. The album captures every end of the spectrum musically and lyrically. I know this may sound strange, but I didn’t write these songs for anyone. I wrote just to write. All of the songs came about because I love writing Beartooth songs. That’s it. I won’t record a song unless I love it, unless I believe in it. I won’t do it any other way.”
Beartooth´s debut album "Disgusting" will be out June 9, check out the new track "Relapsing" here:

Polish group Cereus for fans of Incubus and Dredg

CEREUS is a Polish post-progressive group formed in Warsaw in 2012. In May 2013 CEREUS released first EP album "LightUnderthe Blue Wave" containing four tracks. Already known of their energetic live performances, the band is still looking for it's own identity in fusion of many music genres.

Don´t be a stranger just the same

Supercharged by this hardwired urge for musical catharsis, Heel have spent last year tirelessly touring their self-titled debut release, cementing an international fan base in the process. And that’s not just social media metrics talking; despite still being an upcoming name, Heel - completed by guitarist Dan, bassist Yuta and drummer Tom - saw their 2013 touring schedule incorporate a successful headline tour of Japan. “We seem to get on really well over there; they love the solos and the virtuoso stuff just as much as they love our melodic vocals and the youthful energy Maggie brings, explains Dan. More than anywhere else weve played so far, they really love to see a powerful 22 year-old girl taking charge of an audience. Japanese people have a very different relationship with the music they love. Its like they feel more connected to it and will go to greater lengths to experience it.  When theyre at a show, theyre 100% into the band. Plenty of cheering, no talking, and all eyes on the stage from the first note to the last. Its an awesome vibe.
Temporarily hanging out their touring britches in early 2014 to focus on creating a follow-up release, Heel found themselves once again working alongside SikTh vocalist-cum-producer Justin Hill to create sophomore E.P, Stranger Just The Same
The upcoming EP will be out July 28th, listen to the new single here.

Love Crushed Velvet premieres new video Lover, leave the lights on

NYC's own Love Crushed Velvet has teamed up with Concert Blogger to exclusively premiere their new video, "Lover, Leave The Lights On" today! The track originally released on Love Crushed Velvet's compelling new EP Delusions in September, mixed by Mark Needham (BlondieFleetwood MacThe Killers). Channeling influences from Joy Division, U2 and The Rolling Stones, Love Crushed Velvet blends alternative, glam and classic rock into a contemporary sound that retains a strong sense of melody and edge.

Kiven give away free download of In the fire

What once started as a bedroom project in 2009 has now evolved into the powerful Los Angeles rock quartet, Kiven. Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Tyler Demorest alongside guitarist, Danny Schnair, met while attending a music workshop in Los Angeles, California. The two began writing material with fellow hometown friends and musicians, only shortly before acquiring bass player, Matt Cohen, in the Spring of that year. The contrasting, yet complimenting musical perspectives and chemistry was felt immediately and it was that summer that they spent writing a collection of material that what would later be condensed into the 2010 debut EP, Two In The Same.

Since Kiven's founding, there had been drummers that had come and go, but it wasn't until the Spring of 2012 that good friend and drummer, Jake Reed, began rehearsing with the group. Reed brought, yet again, a complex and contrasting dynamic to Kiven. After the first run through, a spark of assurance and excitement was felt throughout the room. Without necessarily intending to do so, the now solidified foursome naturally began experimenting past material, as well as new. As a result, the 1840 EP was released in late 2012 with the lead single "Hope & Smoke" being premiered on Indie Shuffle, and went on to receive significant attention online and at college radio. 1840 was released as an ongoing transitional piece that reflects Kiven's continuing musical and personal growth.

Kiven´s debut album is available on iTunes now, download the album track "In the fire" for free here:

Manic Bloom knows what´s next but you won´t believe it

Manic Bloom are an epic Melodic Rock band from Nashville, they funded their new album "I know what´s next but you won´t believe me" through Kickstarter, where the fans who supported the project already received a digital download.
The physical release of the CD will be out later in 2014.
Tracklisting : 1.Start a new one 2.When you sleep 3.False prophet 4.Won´t be alone 5.Is it love 6.Nothing to prove 7.Answer 8.Running from the scene 9.One more chance 10.Prepare the way 11.Farewell 12.My fault
Listen to the album track "False prophet" here:

Manic Bloom are:
Andy Neale - Bass
David Stevenson - Vocals
Jeff Brinkley - Drums
Jeff Hildebrand - Keys
Matt Lawrence - Guitars

Beginnings are never easy.
Three years after forming in a room where the only pieces of furniture were a piano bench and a drum throne, Manic Bloom is finding its voice. It wasn't the delusion of grandeur or the promise of fame that inspired the five members to let go of everything and pursue their musical ambitions. That isn't quite the style of Nashville, Tennessee's "Epic Melodic Rock" band.
Their debut EP was released in 2008.

In their 2010 sophomore release "In Loving Memory," listeners can hear some of the thoughts that were going through their heads. Visions of hope met with brutal struggles. Intense passion confronted with equally concentrated opposition.
Manic Bloom approached the process of recording "In Loving Memory" differently than their first self titled EP. Though still completely self-engineered and produced, "we were very intentional while recording this time around," said bassist Andy Neale. "We were not going to be satisfied with just releasing a handful of new songs. We threw parts away and re-recorded entire tracks multiple times, and several melodies were rewritten weeks after we thought they were already solidified. We even completely scrapped one song because it didn't fit the cohesiveness of the others."

"Our first EP was mostly created while reflecting on the past," said guitarist Matt Lawrence. "[For this project], we focused a lot more on what's in front of us. This album is about everything after this moment. We're not stopping."

Shortcuts : Outtrigger , WERM , Night By Night

Outtrigger - Echo (2014)
The modern metal band Outtrigger really exploded onto the Swedish music scene with their appearance in the Swedish Eurovision song contest this year, with the hitsingle "Echo".
But the first acquiantance with this band was their cover of 2013 Swedish Eurovision winner Robin Stjernberg´s song "You", I wasn´t that impressed by their metal version but I do dig their new "Echo" EP a lot more. We´re talking modern melodic metal with growls and clean vocals here, soundwise not far from bands like Sonic Syndicate, Temperance and Sevendust.
I like the intensity in these 4 tracks where the new single "Blame on you" is great but also the numetal flavored "World of fire" kicks ass, so give us a LP real soon.
Also available : Their debut EP "Untestified revolution" from 2010.

WERM - Medication Generation (2014)
"Medication Generation" is the debut EP from electro rock trio WERM, formed in 2011 in Orlando, Florida. With influences from Stabbing Westward, Nine Inch Nails and Nirvana, the band has created a mix of 90´s grunge and industrial rock which is quite nice.
They signed to Republic Records in 2013 and have also opened for Thirty Seconds To Mars and instantly gained a fanbase, the music goes in the same vein as Orgy, The Birthday Massacre and Wired All Wrong.
I think it´s a solid EP where no track really stand out but there are no fillers either, thumbs up for the great production though.

Night By Night - NxN (2014)
Night By Night are a melodic hard rock 5 piece from London, influenced by Def Leppard, TNT, Harem Scarem and Alter Bridge.
Night By Night feature Henry Rundell - Lead Vocals (ex.Voodoo Six) and Ben Christo - Guitars (Sisters of Mercy), Tom Daniel - Guitars, Jonny Thornton - Bass and Damien Diablo - Drums.
Their debut "Can´t walk away" EP was released in 2010, 2 tracks "Can´t walk away" and "It´s not faith" from the EP are re-recorded and included on their debut album "NxN" as well as the songs "Time to escape", "The moment" and "If only" from their 2014 EP "Tune out the static".
We also get the brand new single "A thousand lies" and the new tracks "Siren", "Holding onto holding on", "Never die again" and "Everywhere tonight".
They have without doubt created a winning formula of modern hard rock with traces of AOR, so do yourself a favor and catch them on tour supporting Europe this summer.
For fans of Lynam, Jettblack, Hinder.

The Sinking Teeth post song from upcoming EP

The past year has seen Melbourne housemates and puke-punk powerhouses The Sinking Teeth deliver their debut EP White Water as well as support bands such as Calling All Cars, Bodyjar, Violent Soho and Kingswood, all whilst maintaining the most hilarious Instagram profile going around. Now, they're back with a brand spanking new single titled 'You Can't Build A Bike Out Of Muffins'. Yep, you read that correctly. But don't be fooled by the name, this is another slice of angsty post-punk goodness people have come to love from The Sinking Teeth. Better yet, it was mastered at 2am this morning, proving the trio don't do things in halves. The single will feature on the next EP Salt & Stitches which will be released in coming months.

Get tangled by the Tundra

Brisbane four-piece Tundra have been a well-known fixture on the club scene since 2012, renowned for infectious pop hooks, original indie grooves and a dynamic on-stage chemistry which dates back to high school friendships.

After a short break away from the limelight, recording with rising producer Konstantin Kersting (Big Scary, The Belligerents) Tundra return with‘Tangled’, the lead single from their soon to be released EP. High energy hooks, unforgettable melodies and instantly grabbing experimentation are what provide the foundation for this next release from a band that consistently deliver.

Voyager go hyperventilating

With four full‐length albums under its belt and shows throughout North America, Europe and Asia with the likes of Devin Townsend, Children of Bodom, Soilwork, Nightwish, Epica and Orphaned Land, the five-piece from Oceania is now firmly entrenched in its international repute as a band with heavy grooves, driving riffs and unforgettable melodies. The band’s fourth opus, The Meaning of I (2011), saw rave reviews and international acclaim of the highest caliber (including #8 in Metal HammerGermany’s ‘Soundcheck’). The U.K.’s, Classic Rock Presents Prog, called the album a “polished collection of heavy, heavily polished anthems.”
Complimented by a fiery red keytar, a feisty female guitarist, and vocals Chino Moreno (Deftones, †††) recently likened to Duran Duran’s, Simon Le Bon, Voyager is consistently a live force to be reckoned with. After breaking the record for the longest fan signing session in the 12 year history of America’s “Progpower Festival,” the band will return to “Progpower” Europe this year alongside Chimp Spanner, Agent Fresco, Pagan’s Mind and more.
New album "V" will be released on June 3rd.

Texas based Nothing More´s previous album "The few not fleeting" was on my top album list of 2009, they have now signed with Eleven Seven Music for the release of their new self titled album in June.
This is the same album as the independent release from 2013, however they now get a better distribution and will also play Download in England so you can count yourself one of the lucky ones if you got a ticket to that festival.
Singer Jonny Hawkins, guitarist Mark Vollelunga, bassist Daniel Oliver and drummer Paul O´Brien are just as heavy as Sevendust when they want to be, they´ve got the same strong hooks as Linkin Park but with a progressive touch.
I´m so glad Nothing More lived up to my high expectations because this album is stellar.
Highlights : This is the time, Here´s to the heartache, Friendly fire
For fans of Mandroid Echostar, Hierosonic, Voyager.

4,5 out of 5

Voyager´s 5th album "V" is their first since "The meaning of I" from 2011 and I think it´s about time this band gets the recognition they deserve because the new album is a melodic explosion of thinking metal.
If you think Tears For Fears meets Karnivool sounds like the perfect mix, then Voyager´s "V" is the answer to your prayers. We get an epic soundscape of intelligent and brilliant songstructures, so rich of nuances and memorable melodies that makes this a musical monument that will stand for decades to come.
The first two singles "Breaking down" and "The morning light" got me hooked right away, I was a fan.
This is an album that you should listen to in a fine pair of headphones because the music will embrace you in the best possible way, the amazing opener "Hyperventilating" sets the level with maximum quality and I´m thrilled to say that the album is painfully good all the way.
The last track "Seasons of age" is without doubt the best song of the entire album and it´s got some serious competition, listening to this song must feel the exact same way as the view from space for an astronaut.
Simply breathtaking!

Pop punks Homebound come of age in new EP

Tossing their hats (well, their snapbacks and beanies) into the ring with debut E.P ‘Coming Of Age’,Homebound have most definitely made a strong case for jumping the queue. Rounded off by guitarists Tom Mellon and Chris Wheatley, bassist Joe Durrant and drummer Sam Taylor, Homebound have spent a year behind closed doors, writing, writing and writing some more, until they were ready to share their infectious fruits with the world. “The majority of the release was written over the past year in Tom’s bedroom,” recalls Boughton; “Tom would write the skeletons with programmed drums, and we’d send vocal ideas back and forth… Overall we wrote about 11 tracks, and then focussed it down to the final six for the EP. And although it is just an EP, it feels like a hugely satisfying milestone for us. It feels like we have been writing for an eternity.”
The EP drops on July 21st.

Patterns weave for Vinny Vegas

Vinny Vegas stands out amongst the myriad of progressive bands emerging from Baltimore’s burgeoning art rock community. Living proof that a musical act can thrive without abandoning the DIY aesthetic, the band has self-released three critically acclaimed E.P’s and self-booked/funded many tours over their five-year existence.
With their debut full-length album THE BIG WHITE WHALE and an aggressive touring schedule mapped out for 2014, it just might be the year that Vinny Vegas transforms their underground credibility into more mainstream notoriety.

Shortcuts : The Ready Set , Down With Webster , Noosa

The Ready Set - The bad and the better (2014)
Jordan Witzigreuter aka The Ready Set, will release his 3rd album "The bad and the better" on Razor and Tie this month of May.
Five years have passed since the release of TRS´s debut album "I´m alive, I´m dreaming", which hit No.3 on Billboard´s heatseakers chart.
We´re talking feel-good pop here with roots in 80´s synth and modern dance music, I think it´s a comfortable album that is quite easy to listen to. Perhaps a bit mainstream but songs like "Castaway" and "Higher" puts me in a good mood so I don´t mind.
For fans of Tilian, Owl City, Hellogoodbye

Down With Webster - Party for your life (2014)
Toronto based rap rock band Down With Webster released their major label debut in 2009 with "Time to win Vol.1", and the 2nd album "Time to win Vol.2" followed in 2011.
The new album "Party for your life" made it to #1 on the iTunes chart in Canada and they have sold 800,000 downloads which is rather impressive in these times of file sharing.
This 6 piece band are influenced by varied genres like hip-hop, electronica and rock where their favorite artists are The Beastie Boys, Timbaland, Rage Against The Machine and Michael Jackson.
The electro pop of "Feel so alive" will please fans of Imagine Dragons while the title track is classic Beastie Boys party music, now talk about a chorus with a hit factor there.
"Gentleman man" should do well on hip hop radio, the electro-funky "I need the world" sounds like Family Force 5 meets Forever The Sickest Kids and it´s a given single.
13 tracks and a well spent hour.
For fans of The Wyld, Fake Shark Real Zombie, Hollywood Undead.

Noosa - Wonderland (2014)
New York based artist Noosa calls her own music as fairy-pop, her new 9 track album "Wonderland" contains 7 new tracks plus "Sail" and "Walk on by" taken from the 2013 EP.
The music goes in the same vein as Blondfire, Marina and The Diamonds and IAMEVE. Except for the opening track "Love" that bring thoughts to Enya, I really like this tune and come to think of Noosa´s music as dreamlike and beautiful electro pop.
Synthesizer driven music has a risk of being a bit sterile but this lady knows how to make her songs come alive with passion and love. She´s almost whispering the tender melodies in the fragile "Forest lane", which is one of the best tracks on the album along with "Love".
I like this record.
