Israel´s leading progressive metal band Distorted Harmony truly knocked me down with their remarkable debut "Utopia" from 2012, and now they return with yet another masterpiece called "Chain reaction".
Keyboardist Yoav Efron is without doubt one of the best songwriters in the progmetal genre today where he takes best pieces from Dream Theater´s technical progmetal and blend it with delicate melodies in the same vein as Carpark North.
This is an adventure, a musical adventure that feels like Nasa launching a rocket into space. Ohyeah, we have a liftoff and we won´t land until the echo of the last notes of "Methylene blue" are gone.
They are pompous and heavy in "Hollow", the closest the band gets with walking hand in hand with numetal.
We get stadiumprog in the epic "As you go", a track that would make Steven Wilson proud to have on a Blackfield album.
But my favorite tracks are the first 3, "Every time she smiles", "Children of red" and "Misguided" are pure magic. This is the part when Distorted Harmony makes gold.
Thank you for the music!
